The construction of eight supporting roads for the International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing (Beijing Expo 2019) has been completed recently. The opening of the eight roads will not only serve the expo to open on April 29, 2019, but also help establish a fast and smooth urban transport system in Yanqing District of Beijing.
Located in central Yanqing District, the eight roads, namely, Fukang Road, Baikang Road, Shiyuan Road, Shengbai Street, Hunan Road, Beijin Road, Xishuncheng Street and Kanghe Road, have a total length of 31.18 kilometers. The construction involves various municipal pipelines of water supply, rainwater, sewage and reclaimed water, six new bridges on the eight roads and a 2.5-kilometer urban underground utility tunnel of Baikang Road.
“The eight roads improve the road network around the expo park and also facilitate citizens’ travel. At the beginning of spring, greening and beautifying work will start on the roads so that tourists can enjoy the green beauty of the city before entering the expo park,” said an official from the urban management committee of Yanqing District.
